TRANSPORT

Minibus A Wheelchair accessible vehicle is available, by arrangement with care staff, for visits to hospitals, doctors and shopping. Mansion House Residential Home has outings and functions, which will be available to residents subject to availability.

BUS SERVICES There are many bus services from Althorne, which go to such places as Maldon, Burnham, South Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, Danbury and Southend. Connections can be made to Colchester, Braintree, Romford and Stansted. Services run half hourly or hourly dependent on the route. Bus stops outside Mansion House.

SUPERMARKET BUSES - There is a free bus service to: Asda, South Woodham Ferrers on Wednesdays and Fiveways, Burnham on Fridays. Approximate shopping time: one and three-quarter hours. Hospitals are accessible by public transport such as: St. Peters Maldon, Broomfield and St. Johns Chelmsford.

COACHES - Fords coaches are situated within walking distance, approximately 800 yards. They offer alternating weekly shopping trips to Asda Woodham Ferrers or Southend, and Chelmsford market. Cost £1.50 return. They also run excursions all over the south of England to France and Belgium and trips to the Theatre, Lakeside and Bluewater shopping centres.

TRAINS - Althorne has a service to London Liverpool Street. Trains run hourly but more frequently during rush hours. Travel time to London is 1 hour 13 minutes.

SECURITY

Speech and alarm call communication from your home that will respond to any eventuality on a 24/7 basis throughout the year. Speech communication to the main gate to allow visitor access. Smoke detection system linked to emergency alarm system. Communal Fire Extinguishers supplied and maintained. 
Security recorded TV will monitor the approach to the main gate. Peripheral 2m high security fencing.

COMMUNAL FACILITIES BUILDING

This building incorporates a lounge, a commercially equipped laundry, kitchen, toilets, office, bathroom and overnight sleeping accommodation.

The lounge to be used by residents of the bungalows for such things as functions, residents meetings, tea and other social events. The office, laundry, kitchen, bathroom and overnight accommodation are for the use of staff supplying services to the residents.
